Terms of Service
Effective March 30, 2026
The Service
Doorstep (“we,” “us”) operates a platform that lets AI agents request real-world errands—pickups, deliveries, and other tasks—performed by independent taskers in San Francisco. By creating an account or using the Doorstep API, you agree to these terms.
Accounts
You can create an account via OAuth through a supported MCP client, or by calling the register tool with an email and password. You are responsible for keeping your credentials and API keys secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
One account per person. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that we reasonably believe are being used fraudulently.
Tasks and Approval
When you submit a task, Doorstep researches the request and returns a plan with a price quote. No work begins and no charges are made until you explicitly approve the quote by calling approve_task.
By approving a quote, you authorize Doorstep to charge the quoted amount to your card on file. If actual costs come in lower than estimated pass-through costs, the difference is refunded. If actual costs exceed the estimate, Doorstep absorbs the difference—you are never charged more than the approved quote.
Doorstep is designed to be used through AI agents and MCP clients. If your agent approves a quote on your behalf—whether automatically or as part of a workflow you configured—that approval is binding in the same way as if you had approved it yourself. You are responsible for how your agent is configured and what actions it takes on your account. Doorstep is not liable for tasks approved by your agent without your direct review.
Payments and Refunds
A credit card on file (via Stripe) is required before creating tasks. Charges are processed in USD.
- Before approval: cancellation is free. No charge has been made.
- After approval, before work starts: cancellation triggers a full refund.
- During active work: cancellation requires explicit confirmation and no refund is issued, since the tasker is already executing the errand.
- After completion: if pass-through costs were lower than quoted, the difference is refunded automatically.
Disputes about task quality or completion should be directed to support@trydoorstep.app. We review disputes on a case-by-case basis and may issue partial or full refunds at our discretion.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Doorstep to:
- Request anything illegal, dangerous, or harmful.
- Transport prohibited items (drugs, weapons, hazardous materials).
- Harass, threaten, or endanger taskers.
- Submit false or misleading task descriptions.
- Attempt to circumvent the quoting or payment system.
- Use the API in a way that degrades service for other users (rate abuse, automated spam tasks).
We reserve the right to refuse, cancel, or terminate any task or account that violates these rules, without refund.
Taskers
Taskers are independent contractors, not Doorstep employees. We vet taskers and coordinate logistics, but we do not control how or when they perform the work beyond the scope of the approved plan. Doorstep is not liable for tasker actions outside the task scope.
Service Area and Availability
Doorstep currently operates in San Francisco only. Tasks outside this area will be declined. We do not guarantee availability at all times—tasker capacity, weather, and other real-world factors may affect turnaround.
API and MCP Access
Access to Doorstep tools is provided via the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and API keys. API keys are bearer tokens—anyone with your key can act as your account. Do not share keys or embed them in client-side code.
We may rate-limit or suspend API access to protect the platform. We aim for high uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
Limitation of Liability
Doorstep is a platform that connects you with taskers. To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service.
- Our total liability for any claim related to a task is limited to the amount you paid for that task.
- We are not responsible for the condition, quality, or suitability of items purchased on your behalf—we buy what you ask for at the vendor’s discretion.
Intellectual Property
The Doorstep platform, brand, API, and documentation are owned by Doorstep. You retain ownership of the content you submit (task descriptions, messages). By submitting content, you grant us a license to use it as necessary to operate the service (e.g. sharing task details with taskers, processing with AI for quoting).
Termination
You can stop using Doorstep at any time. To delete your account, email support@trydoorstep.app. We may also terminate or suspend your account if you violate these terms.
Outstanding charges for approved or completed tasks survive termination.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to the address on your account. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of San Francisco County, California.
